Presentation of the “Programme of Inclusion for Migrant People at risk of social exclusion”(PIPE) at the 2nd International Week of Cooperation between the Hellenic Mediterranean University and African Universities (31 March – 4 April 2025)

On 4 April 2025, in the framework of the 2nd International Week of Cooperation between the Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) and African Universities, the Assistant Professor of the Department of Social Work ELMEPA Eleni Koutsouraki presented the objectives, the outcomes so far and the next steps of the PIPE. The presentation was highlighted as a good practice and successful project and was followed by an interesting discussion by the participants on issues of managing the migration and refugee phenomenon in the European area and proposals for cooperation with African Universities.

The aim of the meeting is to exchange good practices, strengthen joint research activities and promote innovation between HMU and its African partners. This year, the event focuses on the 17 Unesco Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (UN SDGs) and the role of the academic community in their achievement.

The objectives are: 

  • Share good policies & successful SDG-related projects addressing specific SDGs (educational, research, and policy actions). 
  • Strengthen university-community partnerships for social innovation.  
  • Strengthen joint research and educational activities addressing specific SDGs. 
  • Promote technology transfer and commercialization of research between HMU and African Partners.
  • Facilitate collaborative international research funding applications.
