PIPE Multiplier Event in Greece (HMU)

The Laboratory of Applied Social Research and Social Work (SoRSoW) of Hellenic Mediterranean University (HMU) successfully organized a multiplier event within the framework of the PIPE project, “Program of Inclusion for Migrant People at Risk of Social Exclusion.” The event took place on 19 February 2026 at Hellenic Mediterranean University in Heraklion.

The main objective of the event was to present the PIPE project, provide information on its implementation progress, and showcase the results and tools developed so far to support the social inclusion of migrants and refugees at risk of social exclusion.

Approximately 60 academic staff members and students from the Department of Social Work of HMU, social workers, psychologists, educators, and professionals employed in local authority social services, public institutions, and Non-Governmental Organizations active in the field of migrant and refugee inclusion in Greece participated in the event

The event opened with welcome remarks delivered by the Vice-Rector for International Relations and Extroversion of HMU and the Director of SoRSoW as project coordinators and the Head of the Department, followed by presentations of Greek team members outlining the project rationale, objectives, expected impact, and the tools developed within the PIPE framework, including the project’s digital platform.

Following a short interactive networking break, the event concluded with an interactive feedback panel involving professionals and volunteers working in local organizations, migrant associations, and Non-Governmental Organizations providing support to migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. The discussion offered participants the opportunity to exchange views, share practical experiences, identify current challenges, highlight good practices, and reflect on the applicability of the tools presented in their professional context.

The team of HMU would like to warmly thank all participants for their valuable contribution to the success of the event. Such initiatives play an important role in strengthening awareness, promoting cooperation among stakeholders, and enhancing networking opportunities that support social cohesion and inclusion.
