Strengthening Inclusion Across Europe: The 4th PIPE Transnational Project Meeting in Rome

On October 16–17, 2025, the partners of the PIPE – Programme of Inclusion for Migrant People at Risk of Social Exclusion project gathered in Rome, Italy, for the 4th Transnational Project Meeting (TPM4), hosted by MAG Uninettuno University.

The meeting brought together representatives from Aalborg University (Denmark), Universidad de La Laguna (Spain), Elliniko Mesogeiako Panepistimio (Greece), Institut für Roma und Minderheiten e.V. (Germany), EVM Group (Spain) and MAG Uninettuno (Italy), both in person and online. Over two intensive days of collaboration, partners reviewed the project’s progress, shared outcomes, and coordinated future actions to ensure the effective implementation of PIPE’s objectives.

Developing Innovative Resources for Migrant Inclusion

A central part of the meeting focused on the advancement of the PIPE mobile application, designed to serve as a practical tool supporting migrants during their first months of settlement in a new country. The app, coordinated by Aalborg University, is being developed as a user-friendly and multilingual guide, offering essential information while ensuring full GDPR compliance by avoiding the collection of personal data.

The consortium discussed technical aspects, structure, and language accessibility, agreeing on the importance of AI-based translation tools to guarantee multilingual inclusiveness. Each partner will contribute localized content tailored to the specific needs and realities of their own national contexts.

Dissemination, Communication and Visibility

The meeting also reviewed the progress of the communication and dissemination activities, coordinated by MAG Uninettuno and EVM Group. The consortium celebrated several achievements, including the publication of numerous articles, the creation of a multilingual project leaflet, and increasing engagement across PIPE’s online platforms and social media.

Partners agreed to continue strengthening PIPE’s visibility through regular updates on institutional websites, new publications, and the upcoming project newsletter. The discussion also emphasized the importance of participating in external conferences and events to enhance recognition and exchange good practices with other European initiatives.

Enhancing Skills, Cultural Awareness and Mentorship

The consortium analyzed the development of the training modules on soft skills, cultural awareness, and mentorship, coordinated by Elliniko Mesogeiako Panepistimio (HMU). These modules aim to empower migrants with key interpersonal and professional skills, while also providing valuable guidance for professionals who support them.

During the meeting, partners reviewed the results of technical and quality checks, ensuring the harmonization of methods and feedback across all modules. The learning materials will be available both in English and in national languages, ensuring accessibility for diverse audiences and promoting intercultural understanding.

Supporting Professionals and Ensuring Project Quality

Updates were also presented on the Toolbox for Professionals, led by Universidad de La Laguna (ULL), currently in its pilot testing phase across partner countries. Feedback gathered from practitioners will help refine the final version of the materials, ensuring that the toolbox effectively supports professionals working in the field of migration and social inclusion.

In addition, partners discussed the organization of upcoming project activities — including colloquial talks, training events, and dissemination sessions — designed to reach both professionals and migrant communities. EVM Group presented the financial and quality monitoring updates, confirming the solid progress of the project and ensuring transparency in all management processes.

A Shared Commitment to Inclusion

The meeting concluded with mutual appreciation among partners for the progress achieved so far and a renewed commitment to PIPE’s mission: fostering inclusion, empowerment, and equal opportunities for migrants through education, innovation, and collaboration.

By combining expertise from universities, research institutions, and social organizations across Europe, the PIPE consortium continues to pave the way toward an inclusive society in which every person can contribute and thrive with dignity, opportunity, and confidence.
